Tourism in Panama extends to the Agricultural Sector

The agricultural sector of Panama has realized the value of tourism and aim to claim a share of the valuable income generated from the tourism industry.

The agricultural sector, which battles with low margins and high production costs have opted to explore the agro tourism potential of various regions within Panama. There are already 8 venues that are classified as ‘agroturistas’, which qualify due to their existing infrastructure, in being able to provide for the tourist need.

The Ministry of Agriculture is actively campaigning to increase the number of agro tourist venues to 11 by the end of the year, with a further 17 scheduled for development and classification by January of 2009.
